How much does it cost ?
It costs $400 per group to join the program for a year.
For the cost of one book per year per member, you get to read 11 books.
How many booksets can we borrow?
Bookclubs can borrow 11 sets per year , that is one set per month with one set borrowed for 2 months over the December/January period.
Our bookclub has joined part way through the year, what is the cost?
Registration fees are pro-rated over the 12 month period.
When do registrations renew?
Our registrations run on the financial year from 1 July to 30 June.
Renewal information will be sent out in June of each year for re-registration prior to 1 July.
How do I register a group?
All registrations are done online through our website. Register your book club group here or register as an individual here and we’ll try to match you with an existing group.
I don’t have a group but would like to join one. How do I Register?
We help individuals find a group if they don’t have one. We just need to know a little about you so we can match you up with the best group; things like when are you available to meet, what kind of books do like etc.

Can I suggest books?
Yes. We love having groups suggest books they would like to read. You can send us your suggestions via an online form here.
Please note we cannot buy every book suggested. We will buy books where there are multiple requests from different groups for the same book.
How does South Coast Bookclubs choose the books?
We try to select a diverse selection of books covering multiple genres including contemporary fiction, crime, biography, romance etc. We keep our eye on books getting great reviews or winning awards, local authors and stories and visiting authors such as those attending StoryFest. We try to choose books that are great for discussion; thought-provoking themes, memorable and well-developed characters, multi-layered plots, emotional resonance and compelling narratives.
What are the registration fees used for?
South Coast Bookclubs is run by a committee of volunteers. 100% of the registration fees are used for the operation of the group and service.
Registration fees are used for the purchase of books, contact to cover the books, storage boxes, online catalogue, maintaining our website, insurance, registration fees etc.
In addition to registration fees the committee has been successful in obtaining grant funding to assist with the initial set-up of the service.

To complete the group registration form you will need the following information:
- A name for your group
- A group leader
- Names, email addresses and phone numbers for all members

How it works
Groups will receive 11 booksets per year. The December set is held for 2 months & returned in Feb.
Each book set has 10 books, author notes & discussion questions.
Groups can join at anytime throughout the year. Your group membership will last 12 months before we ask you to renew your membership.
Membership is per group & costs $400 for 12 months (equates to $40 each if you have the full 10 members)
Groups will need to specify one leader. They will complete the registration, pay the total funds into our bank account, be given a key to access the books from the storage facility & updating the on-line loan system as they collect & return sets. You will be given access & training on using this system.
If your group is looking for more members please let us know, as we have lots of individuals looking to join a book club.
